Penang is a state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The state is divided into two parts by the Strait of Malacca. This state was the first British settlement in Peninsular Malaysia.
Name is taken from the name of the island of betel nut tree. It is also called Tanjung Bidara before known Penang.
Penang is one of the 13 states in Malaysia. Located near the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Penang consists of the island and the mainland known as Seberang Perai.
George Town is the capital of Penang, Malaysia. Opened in 1786 by Captain Francis Light and Georgetown have become one of the cities in Malaysia.Georgetown is Malaysia's oldest city after Queen Elizabeth II gave city status on January 1, 1957 the local authority for the City of Georgetown is Penang Municipal Council.
However, in the process of restructuring in 1976, the City Council of George Town was merged with the Rural District Council Penang Island Municipal Council of Penang into. Thus, although no city status officially withdrawn (by amending the law), both federal and state governments the impression that George Town is not a city. The Penang state government in 2012 has proposed to Georgetown as a city official, but still no final word. Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) was established on December 15, 1976, under the Local Government Act, 1976. The Council is an organization that provides local authority services for the City of Georgetown. Council operations and activities of daily living affect the quality of the public directly.

Penang traditional cakes


SERABAI

Serabai cake is the traditional cake made ​​of rice flour and coconut milk. This cake is white and round. This cake is cooked using the shallow fried. This cake has its own mold. HALWA MASKAT

When the ingredients in the pot was boiling, the batter will be allowed to simmer while stirring so as not crusty on the bottom. According to the elders, while cooking candied maskat we need to use copper pot. If cooked with regular pot, candy colors are so unattractive maskat.

PUTU MAYAM


Putu mayam is a popular cake in the state of Penang. This cake is white and has a shape like noodles. It is eaten along with brown sugar and grated coconut. The main ingredient is rice flour cakes mayam. Cooking methods used in the preparation of cakes mayam is steaming method. When the rice flour mixed with water, it will be formed into dough and marinated. Then, mix the dough will be incorporated into the mold and embedded mayam cakes on the steamer. Mayam mold cakes are available in plastic or wood. Putu mayam available in the morning or evening. It is widely sold in stalls and night markets.


NASI KANDAR



Nasi kandar line which has always been a choice for tourists.

Nasi kandar is a popular dish of northern Malaysia, and originated from Penang. It is a dish served with steamed rice and curries and side dishes diversity.

The word Nasi Kandar, derived from rice hawker clutching (haul) pole suspended two former rice. The name has remained until today the word Nasi Kandar is seen on most Tamil Muslim restaurants or "Malaysian Mamak" and stalls serving Indian Muslims.
Rice to serve nasi kandar is usually placed in wooden container about three feet high which gives it a distinctive smell. Nasi kandar dishes complemented by meat such as fried chicken, curried spleen, beef, eggs, fish, prawns or fried squid. The vegetable dishes are usually like eggplant, okra or melon. A curry sauce mixture poured onto the rice. This is called 'flooding' and gives a sense of variety in rice.
By tradition, the nasi kandar is always served with side dishes in a dishwasher. But today, small melamine bowl is often used for side dishes. Regardless, curry sauce mix is always poured directly onto the rice.


LAKSA


LAKSA PENANG

 Laksa is a noodle dessert as popular in Malaysia and Singapore. It is said to have originated from the Chinese who migrated to Malaya (Peranakan). However, each district has a special sauce eaten with thousand gave their own names according to where it is available. Penang Laksa is popular in Penang, where it berasal.antara most popular laksa in Penang laksa tree is located in the Back janggus island.

Char kway teow merupakan makanan yang popular di Malaysia dan Singapura. PENANG BUTTERFLY FARM

Penang Butterfly Farm is a must-see tourist attractions, particularly for those with children. Penang Butterfly Farm in Teluk Bahang is about 5km from the Hard Rock Hotel Penang. Here you can take a closer look nearly 4,000 butterflies from 120 species.

Penang Butterfly Farm is open from Monday to Sunday including public holidays from 9 am to 6 pm (last time in is at 5 pm).  Georgetown UNESCO World Heritage Site, Penang

Incomplete holiday to Penang if not visit to Georgetown, the area has been listed as one of the world heritage site by UNESCO. Georgetown is rich with many historic buildings as a result of British rule in Penang since the late 18th Century.

KEK LOK SI
Kek Lok Si Temple, located in Ayer Itam, Penang, is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. The most famous temple in Penang, Kek Lok Si pagoda houses a seven-story, bronze statue of Kuan Yin, a large space for assembly and prayer, statue of Buddha.

Batu Ferringhi is one of the most popular beaches in Penang and is frequented by local and foreign tourists as well as locals. Here you can spend time at the beach for a bath or a picnic with the family.

MASJID KAPITAN KELING

                                                      JAMBATAN PULAU PINANG


Penang Bridge is the longest bridge in Southeast Asia and the third longest in the world. It is the 13.5 kilometers of which 8.4 kilometers across the sea. It connects the Jelutong Expressway in Bayan Lepas, Penang to the mainland peninsula in Seberang Prai.



Construction work started in 1982 and completed in 1985, just 3 years old and it is a cost of Rs 850 million. This bridge brings pride to the country. It is recognized as an outstanding engineering achievement in the world. This is because the middle part of the bridge structure-retaining cable (cable-stayed bridge'''') the earliest in the world. It was opened on 14 September 1985 for public transport. The total length of the bridge is 13.5 km, which makes it the longest bridge in the world. Prior to 1985, the main transportation to go to the island is the ferry is still operating until now.





KOTA CORNWALLIS


FORT CORNWALLIS

Fort Cornwallis is situated at the end of George Town. Privately managed, can be reached with an entrance fee of RM1. City overlooking the port allows you to see the activity on the east coast and clearly. In the northwest fort is a Dutch cannon Series thermal treatment available there since 1603.
