INTERESTING PLACES IN PENANG

Penang Bridge is the longest bridge in Southeast Asia and the third longest in the world. It is the 13.5 kilometers of which 8.4 kilometers across the sea. It connects the Jelutong Expressway in Bayan Lepas, Penang to the mainland peninsula in Seberang Prai.



Construction work started in 1982 and completed in 1985, just 3 years old and it is a cost of Rs 850 million. This bridge brings pride to the country. It is recognized as an outstanding engineering achievement in the world. This is because the middle part of the bridge structure-retaining cable (cable-stayed bridge'''') the earliest in the world. It was opened on 14 September 1985 for public transport. The total length of the bridge is 13.5 km, which makes it the longest bridge in the world. Prior to 1985, the main transportation to go to the island is the ferry is still operating until now.

Fort Cornwallis is situated at the end of George Town. Privately managed, can be reached with an entrance fee of RM1. City overlooking the port allows you to see the activity on the east coast and clearly. In the northwest fort is a Dutch cannon Series thermal treatment available there since 1603. Local women put flowers on the gun barrel as a trust to increase their fertility. In 2000 the fort was restored and part of the moat was rebuilt.
